K-12 Technology Works has entered into an agreement with the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) to utilize the CobiT® Quickstart 2nd Edition material created and developed by the Information Technology Governance Institute (ITGI). The CobiT® Quickstart material is a key component of the revolutionary Process SelfCheck™(PSC) tool developed by K-12Technology Works. The PSC is an online application that provides users with an immediate appraisal of IT governance within their organization.
The output of the PSC is a maturity assessment that is solely based upon the CobiT® Capability Maturity Model (CMM). The resulting maturity score is easy to understand and follows a continuum from “non-existent” to “Optimized.” The completed PSC will review over 70 critical elements of effective IT governance and yield 32 metrics across four responsibility domains that exist within any organization that utilizes IT. The intention is to facilitate assessments that raise awareness, capture broad consensus and motivate improvement.
K-12 Technology Works chose the CobiT® Quickstart 2 nd Edition material as the foundation for the PSC because it was specifically designed for smaller organizations such as those predominant in K-12 education. The Quickstart is a condensed version of the CobiT® 4.1 framework that distills the content down to 59 control objectives covering 32 processes across four responsibility domains (Plan and Organize, Acquire and Implement, Deliver and Support, Monitor and Evaluate). Using the CobiT® Quickstart, the K12TW SelfCheck provides a means for establishing a baseline measure of where the organization currently stands with respect to governing and managing IT in support of the organizations goals and objectives.
For most organizations the PSC will simply be the first step in developing, implementing, and maintaining sound IT governance to ensure the delivery of essential services and programs in support of organizational goals and objectives. Fortunately, K-12 Technology works offers a comprehensive portfolio of services designed to help with each stage of this process. More information regarding our essential blueprint can be found at: Technology Improvement Plan.
Our next offering, which is currently under development, is the Infrastructure SelfCheck™ (ISC). The ISC is designed to assess the state of your actual infrastructure and the use of technology across the organization. Absent an objective standard for such assessment, K12TW has developed a proprietary system which is loosely based on the Microsoft Infrastructure Optimization Model, Gartner Infrastructure Maturity Model, and other related systems.
